The difference between product design and spatial design is the scale. In a product, the user experiences all facets in the palm of their hand. Through spatial experiences, the user is immersed in the environment. As environmental designers we have the opportunity to stimulate the user's senses on a more impactful level. The experience is linear yet dynamic, and like any art piece we have multiple reads of detail from macro to micro.
The power of spatial design lies in the emotional impact an experience can portray. Whether it's telling a compelling story, elevating brand values, or creating an entertaining experience, as environmental designers it is our duty to curate the delivery of that message with finesse and intent - in way that triggers specific emotional nuances - to create unforgettable impactful experiences.
